About the role An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Data Engineer to contribute to a major Fine Modernisation Program within Queensland Government. You'll play a key role in building a modern data platform, bringing together information from multiple internal systems and external agencies to strengthen reporting, analytics and business decision-making. Working with Azure Databricks, you'll help deliver scalable data solutions from ingestion through to reporting and ongoing platform support.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks.
- Build data ingestion solutions integrating internal transactional systems and external agency data.
- Develop and maintain data models across Bronze, Silver and Gold layers.
- Conduct technical analysis, solution design and feasibility assessments against business requirements.
- Support data governance, platform operations, issue resolution and analytical reporting.

Highly desirable criteria

- At least three years' hands-on experience delivering large-scale data warehouse, data lake, Lakehouse or analytical application projects.




- Practical experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF) and/or Synapse.
- Proven experience delivering solutions using Medallion Architecture and Layered Scalable Architecture.

Desirable criteria

- Experience integrating data from multiple enterprise systems and external agencies.
- Exposure to data matching solutions and analytical reporting.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Skills and experience

- Solid SQL, data modelling and data engineering capabilities.
- Hands-on ELT development and data pipeline implementation.
- Understanding of scalable data architectures and data governance principles.
