Know your clients | Have time to care | Feel supported

You became a midwife to build relationships, provide personalised care and make a difference. This role gives you the opportunity to do that with a low caseload, protected time off and an experienced team behind you.

Join My Midwives’ Birthing in Our Community (BiOC) team and provide continuity of care throughout pregnancy, birth and the early weeks of parenting.

Delivered in partnership with Moreton ATSICHS and the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH), BiOC brings together midwifery, family support and community-controlled health services for First Nations women and families. Our approach centres relationships, women’s choices and a commitment to culturally protected care.

A caseload that gives you time to care

With a low annual caseload of 28 women, you’ll have time to build trust, understand what matters to each woman and provide care guided by her priorities, preferences and informed decisions, alongside clinical evidence.

You’ll work alongside Aboriginal Family Support Practitioners as part of the BiOC team. Women and families can also access the broader services offered by Moreton ATSICHS, including the BiOC Child Health Service, Family Wellbeing Services, BiOC Mental Health Our Way, Deadly Dads and Deadly Fit Mums.

You’ll provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care across our Strathpine and Caboolture clinics, community settings and hospitals, with supported credentialing and admitting rights at Royal Brisbane and Women’s, Caboolture and Redcliffe hospitals.

This is an opportunity to practise with autonomy, work to your full scope and be part of a collaborative team that values your clinical judgement.

Private practice, with a team behind you

You’ll have the security of salaried employment and paid leave, alongside the support of an established private midwifery practice.

We offer

- $150,000 annualised salary + super at 1.0 FTE, pro rata for part time

- Six weeks’ annual leave, pro rata for part time

- Rostered on-call arrangements with protected time off
- An on-call Clinical Manager available 24/7 for clinical advice and support

- Two days’ paid professional development leave per annum

- Supported credentialing and hospital admitting rights

- All IT and clinical equipment provided

- Mentorship and leadership development opportunities

- Superannuation salary sacrificing and novated lease options available

My Midwives has more than 15 years’ experience delivering continuity of care across Queensland, Victoria and the Northern Territory. We are committed to sustainable workloads, strong clinical leadership and the wellbeing of our midwives.

Bring your experience - and your commitment to relationships

We’re looking for an endorsed midwife who values continuity, enjoys working collaboratively and respects women’s knowledge, choices and autonomy.

You’ll need

- Current AHPRA registration as a midwife, with endorsement

- At least three years’ full time equivalent midwifery experience

- Recent experience across antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care

- Strong communication, clinical judgement and decision-making skills
- A commitment to culturally safe practice, ongoing reflection and learning from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, families and colleagues

Experience in continuity of care or MGP, working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, or Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services would be highly regarded. IBCLC qualifications or additional lactation expertise are also welcome.

Curious about making the move?

Whether you already work in continuity of care or are considering your next step, we’d welcome a confidential conversation about the role and how our model works.

Contact Hannah Quanchi at @mymidwives.com.au.

To apply, send your CV and a brief cover letter telling us about your experience and why this opportunity interests you.

Applications will be reviewed as received.
