Home and Community Support Specialists is seeking an experienced and reliable Disability Support Worker to provide home care and community support to a young man with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) living with his family in Karalee.
When You'll Work
This casual position offers approximately 10-15 hours per week across Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. We are looking for a support worker who is committed to building independence, encouraging community participation and providing high-quality, person-centred support.
About the Role
- Home care and community access support
- Assistance with daily living skills and personal care
- Supporting independence, confidence and social engagement
- Encouraging skill development and goal achievement
- Supporting positive behaviour and responding appropriately to challenging behaviours
- Working collaboratively with family members and the broader support team
About You
- Previous experience supporting people in the disability sector
- Previous experience supporting those with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Experience supporting clients who may display challenging behaviours
- Understanding of person-centred and strengths-based support
- Calm, patient and confident approach
- Reliable, flexible and professional
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
