About the role

As the First Mate/Skipper for AUSTRALIA BAY SEAFOODS, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a fish trawl vessel in the Northern Territory. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of the company's fishing operations and contribute to the overall success of the business.

Key responsibilities

- Operate and navigate the vessel in compliance with all relevant maritime regulations & safety protocols

- Implementation of the company's fishing operations

- Lead and manage the crew, ensuring a safe and productive working environment

- Maintain communication with onshore management team

- Oversee equipment and vessel maintenance

- Maintain detailed records of the vessel's activities

We are currently seeking an experienced Skipper to join our team.

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Skipper in the commercial fishing industry, within the trawling sector targeting demersal finfish.

- Demonstrated expertise in navigating, operating, and maintaining fishing vessels

- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and motivate a crew

- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to respond quickly to changing conditions

- Proficient in the use of equipment and other marine technologies; including electronic logbooks

- Commitment to safety and a strong focus on environmental sustainability

- Master Class 4 <45m NC qualification

- Must hold a Valid First Aid & National Police Check

- Immediate start
