About the role

We are currently seeking a Farm Hand for the Mount Schanck Station portfolio located just 15km south of Mt Gambier, South Australia. You will have the opportunity to join a supportive team and gain skills to have a successful career. Reporting to the Farm Manager, the position involves all aspects of a mixed grazing, large-scale farming business.

You must have a positive attitude and enjoy working with cattle and sheep. This is a permanent, full time position, with the successful candidate having long term career possibilities within the TFI network.

Working in one of the most picturesque areas of the lower south east of South Australia, commonly referred to as the Limestone Coast, the farm overlooks beautiful Mt Schanck and is a short distance from numerous coastal towns.

Commencement date for the successful candidate will be in January 2027.

About the Property

- Mt Schanck Station 10,000 Acres with 2,000 acres of centre pivot irrigation

- Running 3,000 Angus Cows and Calves, 5,000 self-replacing Composite ewes plus young stock

- High stocking rate, rotational grazing high input high output farm system

- Focusing on modern farming techniques short joining periods, early weaning systems





- Large scale cattle artificial insemination programs

- State of the art sheep and cattle handling facilities

- Contemporary farming equipment

- EU accredited and full NLIS traceability across sheep and cattle

Responsibilities

With a focus on modern farming techniques, responsibilities will include:

- Assist with daily farming operations to meet production goals and targets

- Assist with animal husbandry and management including calving, lambing, marking and weaning

- Assist with the implementation and execution of irrigation and nutritional programs

- Operation of farm machinery and equipment, including but not limited to tractors and implements, telehandlers, loaders, lawn mowers, generators, tools and equipment

The Ideal Candidate The candidate we are looking for will have the following attributes:

- 1 year or more experience in similar role

- Experience working with sheep and/or cattle

- Heavy machinery operation experience is desirable

- Basic mechanical knowledge

- Excellent communication skills

- Sound practical problem solving skills

- Sound time management and organisation skills

Qualifications

- Current drivers licence - desirable MR
