The role partners senior leaders across a set of business units, with ownership of their financial performance. It suits someone who wants their analysis to shape decisions, not just describe them.
The Role
- Acts as the finance lead for a set of business units, partnering their senior leaders day to day
- Owns monthly financial and operational reporting, with transparent commentary on what moved and why
- Presents results at monthly performance meetings, covering risks, emerging issues and the response to each
- Leads the annual budget and reforecast for the portfolio, keeping to a firm organisational timetable
- Builds financial models for new proposals and business cases, testing the assumptions behind them
- Advises on resource allocation and service planning decisions as they come up
- Identifies savings and revenue improvements,
then tracks them through implementation
- Delivers to month end and year end schedules, and improves how the work gets done
Background Required
- CA or CPA qualified
- Three years or more as a Finance Business Partner, or in a closely related commercial finance role
- Hands on ownership of an annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, not just contribution to one
- Experience in a large or complex organisation with multiple portfolios and senior stakeholders
- Able to explain financial insight clearly to non finance leaders, in writing and in the room
- Comfortable balancing competing priorities against tight reporting deadlines
