Albury
This is your place for a new career.
For more than 80 years, SS&A; has been at the heart of Albury, a place where people gather to celebrate, connect and feel at home. We are proud to be a leading hospitality and community organisation, built on exceptional service, modern facilities and a supportive team culture.
Right now we’re building what’s next. New spaces, elevated experiences, and an exceptional service standard. We’re currently looking for the Border’s best talent to join our already great team.
About the role
We’re looking for a qualified accountant to lead the day-to-day finance function at SS&A; and own our month-end close from start to finish. As a not-for-profit community club, every dollar spent here stays here. You’ll join a small, modern finance team of two that reports directly to our Chief Finance & Technology Officer, and this is the senior role in it.
What the job looks like
- Own the month-end close, with balance sheet workpapers, journals and reconciliations right and on time, every month
- Act as first reviewer of our monthly management reports and board pack, which are produced through an AI-assisted process once the inputs are complete
- Keep our month-end runbook current and keep improving it
- Prepare and lodge BAS, payroll tax and FBT, and support the year-end audit
- Guide the day-to-day work of our Finance Officer, review their work and be their first port of call, stepping into their line management after your probation
- Share day-to-day processing with the Finance Officer, including the daily sales journal, accounts payable and accounts receivable
You’ll work with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, and a reporting process built on Claude. You don’t need to have used all of these,
but you do need to be comfortable reviewing output critically and curious about making a process better. If you want to own a whole finance process rather than a slice of one, this is it.
Who we’re looking for
SS&A;’s recruitment process looks at the skills and experience you need from Day 1, along with how you interact with others, how you work as part of a team, your attention to detail, and the service mindset you hold. For this role, that means bringing strong technical finance skills as well as our values.
Wherever you work in the Club, behind the bar, on the floor, in the kitchen, on reception, or in the office, the same four things matter:
Welcoming.
We welcome every person with a smile, warmth and friendliness.
Genuine.
We support each other by stepping in to lend a hand, share what we know, and look out for the people around us.
Dynamic.
We bring our best and have fun while we do it. We’re ready to give 100%, stay focused on the job at hand, and look for ways to make the experience better.
Elevated.
We take pride in ourselves, our work, and our workplace. We notice the details that make a difference, keep our spaces looking their best.
If that sounds like you, and we sound like a workplace where you can be your best, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll bring
ESSENTIAL
- CA or CPA qualified, or in the final stages, with a degree in accounting or commerce
- Experience running month-end reconciliations,
BAS and a period-end close in a business with more than one revenue stream, not just supporting them
- A finance process you can point to that you’ve owned and improved
- The ability to explain numbers in plain language to people who aren’t accountants
- Experience with an ERP system and advanced Excel
DESIRABLE
- Experience with Business Central, Fabric or Power BI
- Club, hospitality or multi-venue experience, although a good attitude and the right skills matter more
What you’ll get back
- A welcoming team that looks out for each other
- Monday to Friday hours, supported by professional management
- Engaging training in the SS&A; Way, Customer Service, leadership skills, and more
- Staff discounts, free coffee and in office parking
- A high-quality corporate uniform
- Access to our premium staff lounge, a comfortable place to recharge, relax and connect
- Free access to Sonder, a health, safety and wellbeing app, for you and your family
- Contributing meaningfully to SS&A;’s 80-year history, by helping us write the next chapter The salary is $90,000 to $100,000 plus superannuation, with the top of the range for CA or CPA qualified candidates with club or hospitality experience.
