About the role

Join the Brisbane finance team as a Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll own assigned month-end close, reporting, compliance and control activities, preparing accurate information for review and decision-making. You'll work with project managers and colleagues across finance and operations, with regular exposure to the CFO.

This is a full-time hybrid position in a growing business where processes and systems continue to develop.

What you'll do

- Manage assigned month-end and quarter-end tasks, including journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare management reporting, financial analysis, statutory workpapers and year-end audit schedules.
- Prepare GST/BAS reconciliations and tax compliance workpapers, including income tax and capital gains tax calculations, for review.
- Partner with project and operational leaders on job costing, work in progress, project margins and revenue recognition.
- Support budgets,



reforecasts and cash-flow reporting, and improve finance systems, controls and processes.

What you'll bring

- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, and a current CA qualification.
- At least five years' relevant financial accounting or comparable commercial accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB and IFRS), GST/BAS and month-end accounting.
- Experience preparing reconciliations, analysing results, and producing financial reporting and audit workpapers.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP and accounting systems.
- Transparent communication, sound judgement, strong organisation and a careful approach to controls and deadlines.
- Experience in construction, structural steel, fabrication, manufacturing or engineering is desirable.
- Project accounting, work-in-progress, job costing, AASB 15 revenue recognition, reporting automation or finance system improvement experience would also be useful.
