Followmont Transport is a family-owned transport and logistics business. We're proud of our people and the "Followmont family" culture we've built across our depots. Our Sydney operation keeps growing, and we're looking for an experienced Forklift Operator to join our afternoon team.
About the role
You'll work the PM shift at our Sydney depot. Your main job is loading linehaul trucks accurately, safely and on time so our freight leaves on schedule. This isn't an entry-level role. We need someone who already knows how to build a solid, well-balanced linehaul load.
What you'll be doing
- Loading and unloading linehaul trailers (B-doubles and semi-trailers) to meet departure times
- Planning and building safe, secure loads that make the best use of space and weight
- Restraining loads correctly, in line with Chain of Responsibility and load restraint requirements
- Handling general and palletised freight, including heavy items and odd shapes
- Checking freight against manifests and connote paperwork, and reporting damage or discrepancies
- Keeping the dock clean, safe and organised
- Working closely with the shift supervisor,
linehaul drivers and the dock team
What we're looking for
- At least 4-5 years of experience loading linehaul trucks (essential)
- A current High Risk Work Licence - Forklift (LF)
- A strong understanding of load restraint, weight distribution and axle loading
- The ability to work quickly and accurately under time pressure
- A commitment to safety on every shift
- Reliability and punctuality, and willingness to work overtime when needed
- Good communication skills and a team-player attitude
- The right to work in Australia
