Forward Deployed Engineer, Applied AI | Senior - Staff | Sydney | Top Base + equity A well-funded, early-stage AI company in Sydney is hiring an engineer to sit between its product and its customers. You’ll make the platform work inside each customer’s world, then make the platform better because of what you learn.

The company

It builds AI agents that help engineering teams at hardware companies make sense of the huge volumes of operational data their machines generate. Small senior team, a growing customer base in Australia and overseas, and backing from leading investors.

The role A hands-on build role with customers at the centre. You’ll get each new customer’s data connected and useful quickly, sit with their engineers to understand how they really work, and shape how the AI fits into their day. When something is missing, you build it, and you make sure what you learn ends up in the core product.

Travel is a big part of the job, often more than half your time, including overseas.

What you’ll do

- Own customer onboarding end to end, from first data access to something they rely on

- Write the connectors and pipelines that bring messy operational data onto the platform
- Agree measurable goals for each trial and get it over the line
- Spend real time on site with customer engineering teams
- Build reusable tooling so deployments get quicker over time

What you bring

- 3+ years in engineering, with real customer-facing experience
- Solid Python and data skills, and comfort across a web stack
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs or agents, and you enjoy working AI-first
- Credibility in a room full of engineers
- Self-direction, an appetite for travel, and a base in Sydney or a plan to relocate

Nice to have

- A background in hardware, robotics, IoT or industrial systems
- Deployments into customer-controlled cloud or on-premise environments
- Startup experience

What’s on offer A competitive base plus meaningful equity, a small team where your work reaches customers fast, and an inner-Sydney office.
