We currently seek to employ a gardener on a part-time basis for 30.4 hours per week with the Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba.

The responsibility of the Gardener is for maintaining gardens, lawns, landscapes, pool and outdoor areas to ensure they are well presented.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Garden and Landscape Maintenance

- Mow lawns and maintain grassed/turf areas.
- Prune trees, shrubs, hedges and plants.
- Weed garden beds and landscaped areas.
- Plant flowers, shrubs, trees and seasonal plants.
- Apply mulch, fertilizers and soil conditioners as required.
- Water gardens and operating irrigation systems

Grounds Maintenance

- Maintain pathways, edging, and outdoor areas.
- Remove garden waste and debris.
- Monitor the condition of plants and identify issues such as disease, pests or nutrient deficiencies.
- Assist with landscape improvement projects.

Pool Maintenance

- Conduct routine pool cleaning, including skimming, vacuuming and brushing pool surfaces.
- Test and monitor pool water quality.
- Add and adjust pool chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines and manufacturer recommendations.
- Maintain surrounding pool areas, including paving, fencing, gardens and outdoor furniture.

Equipment and Safety





- Operate and maintain gardening equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers and hand tools.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and report faults.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Safely handle chemicals, herbicides and pesticides when required.
- Behave on-the-job in a manner that complies with Catholic Social Teachings/Principles

We are looking for candidates who have:
- Previous experience in landscape or garden maintenance
- Knowledge of gardening and horticultural practices
- Ability to use gardening equipment safely and effectively
- Understanding of pest and disease identification and treatment methods
- Awareness of environmental and sustainable gardening practices
- Current drivers licence
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Reliable, punctual and dependable
- Valuable communication and interpersonal skills
- Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual outdoor work
- Behaviour consistent with Catholic social teachings
