Primary Health Tasmania

Hobart

Primary Health Tasmania is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation working to connect care and keep Tasmanians well and out of hospital. Its activities are based on national priorities set by the Australian Government as well as the identified needs of local communities and priority population groups, with a focus on commissioned service delivery, provider support and system improvement. Its vision is Healthy Tasmanians, with a purpose of creating enduring health and wellbeing solutions with the Tasmanian community.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the General Manager - Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs will lead the strategic direction and performance of the Mental Health and AOD business unit. The role is accountable for the end-to-end delivery and outcomes of Mental Health and AOD programs and provides organisational leadership across commissioning, commissioning quality, health information and evaluation. Working across government, providers, consumers and other stakeholders, the General Manager will strengthen access, quality and equity of services across Tasmania.

The appointment comes as Primary Health Tasmania implements a new organisational structure designed to provide clearer accountability and establish a more cohesive, outcomes-focused way of working.

The General

Manager will join the organisation during this transition,

establishing the new business unit, maintaining momentum across complex programs and supporting teams to work effectively within the new structure. This will require a pragmatic leader who can balance strategic thinking with delivery, establish clear priorities and bring people through change with empathy and respect.

The successful candidate will be an experienced executive leader with a record of leading complex teams, programs or operational portfolios and delivering measurable outcomes. Candidates will bring solid strategic, financial, commercial and stakeholder engagement capability, together with experience managing significant programs, budgets, contracts or public funding.

Experience within health, community services, government or a similarly complex environment is required along with an outcomes focussed approach, enterprise perspective and ability to translate strategy into action.

This is an opportunity to take on a key leadership role and make a tangible impact on health and wellbeing across Tasmania.
