About the role

McConnell Dowell, in Joint Venture with Gamuda Australia, is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to join our project team delivering Sydney Water's Willoughby Submain Amplification Project across Sydney's Lower North Shore.

This major wastewater infrastructure project involves the construction of a 2.5km tunnel, incorporating micro tunnelling, shaft construction, Utility connections and associated underground infrastructure works.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee day-to-day construction activities, coordinate multiple work fronts and lead site teams and subcontractors to ensure secure, efficient and high-quality project delivery.

You'll play a key role in driving construction performance, managing complex construction works and contributing to the successful delivery of this significant water infrastructure project.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate daily construction activities across microtunnelling, shaft construction and associated civil works.
- Provide strong frontline leadership to Supervisors, site personnel and subcontractors, fostering a positive and accountable site culture.
- Oversee construction operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to project requirements.
- Coordinate multiple work fronts, resources, plant and equipment to achieve project schedules and milestones.
- Drive safety, environmental compliance, quality and productivity while proactively managing operational risks.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers and subcontractors to monitor progress, resolve challenges and ensure successful project delivery.

About you

- Extensive experience in a General Superintendent or senior construction leadership role within civil infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience delivering utilities infrastructure projects is essential.
- Previous experience in water and wastewater infrastructure projects is highly desirable.




- Strong understanding of microtunnelling, trenchless construction, shaft construction and underground works.
- Proven ability to lead site teams, Supervisors and subcontractors across multiple work fronts.
- A proactive leadership style with the ability to drive productivity, build strong relationships and foster a positive site culture.
