About the role

Club Whitsunday is seeking a hands-on grounds and maintenance skilled to take the lead in maintaining our Sportspark and Club facilities to a high standard.

This role involves maintaining sporting fields, turf, gardens and outdoor areas, ensuring they are safe, well presented and ready for training, competitions and events.

You’ll plan and carry out daily work, provide direction and coordinate support to keep maintenance tasks organised and on track.

Key responsibilities

- Plan, prioritise and carry out daily grounds and maintenance work, providing direction and coordinating support as needed.
- Maintain and prepare sporting fields and playing surfaces, including mowing, line marking, turf repairs, aerating, top dressing and seeding.
- Care for gardens, lawns and trees through planting, watering, trimming and pruning.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, identifying faults and coordinating repairs where needed.
- Apply fertilisers and approved treatments.
- Safely operate machinery and equipment, completing routine checks and maintenance.
- Carry out general facility maintenance and repairs,



and assist with improvements and installations.
- Keep basic maintenance records and report hazards, equipment faults and repair needs.
- Coordinate with staff and contractors, adjusting work around bookings, events and weather conditions.

About you You’re a dependable, self-motivated all-rounder who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in a job well done and leads by example. You’ll bring:

- Practical experience in groundskeeping, turf care, irrigation and general maintenance.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and guide others.
- Confidence operating machinery and equipment safely.
- A good eye for detail and practical problem-solving skills.
- The physical capability to carry out hands-on outdoor work.
- Clear communication and a positive, cooperative approach.
- A commitment to workplace safety.
- A current driver’s licence.
- ACDC certification, or a willingness to obtain it, is desirable.
