Head of Technology - Insurance Broker Applications

- General Insurance / Underwriting Agency experience is mandatory for this role.
- $240k–$250k Super Bonus

We are specifically seeking candidates who have worked within a General Insurance insurer or Underwriting Agency and understand the systems, processes and operational requirements of these environments. Life Insurance experience or Reinsurance experience alone won't be relevant for the role.

Broader financial services, banking or technology experience without direct General Insurance or Underwriting Agency experience will not be considered.

Role Overview:

- We are seeking an experienced technology leader with a solid background in General Insurance or Underwriting Agencies to lead the applications and technology delivery function within a growing insurance business.
- This is a business-facing technology leadership role, responsible for ensuring the organisation's applications, systems and technology platforms effectively support its underwriting, insurance operations, claims and broader commercial objectives.
- We are looking for someone who understands the insurance industry from the inside – someone who knows how General Insurance businesses operate, understands the systems that underpin them and can translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
- Responsibilities:
- Lead the applications and technology delivery function, ensuring systems effectively support the day-to-day operations of the insurance business.
- Work closely with underwriting, claims, operations and distribution teams to understand business requirements and identify opportunities to improve technology and processes.
- Oversee the delivery, enhancement and ongoing management of core insurance applications, platforms and business systems.
- Drive improvements across underwriting, policy administration, claims, broker and intermediary systems.




- Manage end-to-end delivery of technology projects, system enhancements, integrations and business-led initiatives.
- Develop and execute the applications strategy and roadmap, ensuring technology investments align with business priorities and commercial objectives.
- Lead and develop a high-performing applications and technology delivery team.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, RPA and better utilisation of existing technology.
- Establish appropriate governance across applications, projects, budgets, risk, security and compliance.
- Partner with executive leadership to shape the ongoing evolution of the organisation's technology environment.

Skills & Experience:

- Proven senior technology leadership experience within a General Insurance insurer, with a strong understanding of General Insurance operations, including underwriting, policy administration, claims and broker/intermediary distribution.
- Demonstrated experience leading applications, business systems or technology delivery functions within an insurance environment, with a solid understanding of the systems and technology platforms that support insurance operations.
- Proven ability to work closely with business stakeholders, translating operational requirements into effective technology solutions and aligning technology initiatives with business objectives.
- Experience managing application delivery, system integrations, enhancements and ongoing BAU operations.
- Exposure to insurance platform modernisation,



system consolidation and application transformation.
- Experience across automation, RPA and emerging technologies, including AI, and their application to improving business processes and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience, including building, developing and managing high-performing technology teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical environments.
- Strong commercial acumen, including vendor management, strategic partnerships, outsourced delivery models, budget management and technology investment decisions.
- Experience with P&L; responsibility or broader technology budget ownership.
- Experience in the design, development, build and delivery of General Insurance products is highly desirable.
