About The Role

Are you obsessed with pop culture, entertainment news, and setting the daily cultural agenda? We're looking for an ambitious, creative, and dynamic Head of The Spill to own Australia's favourite daily entertainment show as both a brand and a thriving multi-platform business. In this leadership role, you'll define the show's vision, distinctive voice, and editorial direction, ensuring our audience chooses The Spill every single day.

Leading a passionate production team and managing a rotating bench of incredible hosts, you'll expand The Spill beyond the audio feed into video, social, newsletters, and vibrant community spaces. You'll champion sharp, fair, and empowering pop-culture storytelling, turn casual listeners into loyal subscribers, and drive exciting commercial partnerships.

Here's some of the stuff you can expect to be doing if you join us:

- Own the overarching vision, brand identity, and multi-platform growth strategy for The Spill across podcast feeds, YouTube, social channels, and newsletters.
- Set the daily editorial agenda, deciding which pop-culture stories, streaming releases, and entertainment moments The Spill owns and the unique perspective we bring to them.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the production team, fostering a supportive, high-performing daily operating rhythm that turns breaking stories around the same day.
- Build, roster, and develop a diverse bench of hosts and contributors, cultivating on-air chemistry and maintaining the show's authentic voice across a rotating lineup.
- Champion video-first storytelling, ensuring The Spill is built to be watched as well as heard across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and emerging platforms.
- Protect the show's tone, content standards, and brand safety,



ensuring coverage is sharp, ethical, avoids punching down, and complies with media law and defamation standards.
- Collaborate closely with Sales and commercial teams to pitch and craft show-native integrations, sponsorships, and event partnerships that resonate with our audience and deliver for clients.
- Plan major coverage around the entertainment calendar, from awards seasons to reality TV finales, while collaborating with the broader Mamamia team to cross-pollinate audiences.

Now, a Bit About You

- 5+ years of experience in entertainment, pop culture, or celebrity media across podcasting, video, social, or digital editorial, with at least 2 years in team leadership.
- Deeply immersed in the daily entertainment news cycle, with an instinct for what women are talking about and an authentic, engaging point of view.
- A proven track record of driving cross-platform audience growth, engagement, and community conversion, with the data and results to back it up.
- Sharp editorial judgement under quick-paced deadline pressure, paired with a solid working knowledge of Australian media law, defamation, and brand safety.
- Strong talent management skills, with an empathetic, collaborative approach to nurturing on-air chemistry and building confident host rosters.
- A natural commercial instinct, adept at partnering with brands, networks, and streamers to craft integrations that feel organic and exciting for the audience.
- An innovative mindset with an appetite for embracing AI production tools, with industry relationships and on-air comfort considered a welcome bonus.
