Hospital Medical Officer - Intern

Employment Status: Full time, Fixed Term

Hours: 76 per f/n, rotating roster including nights and weekends

Remuneration: $85,201.48 super salary packaging

The role

Interns at Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH) work to ensure that high quality, evidence based and medical care is delivered within a safe team environment. MBPH provides a supported environment and commitment to the training and education of junior doctors. The Interns provides effective baseline management of the patient under the guidance of the Hospital Medical Officers, Registrar and Staff

Specialist.

- Provide high-quality, patient-centred medical care through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment planning in collaboration with senior medical staff.

- Conduct and interpret relevant clinical investigations, prioritise patient care using triage principles, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.

- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating sensitivity to diverse cultural and individual needs.

- Contribute to discharge planning, patient transfers, referral processes, medication management, and timely completion of discharge summaries to ensure continuity of care and positive patient outcomes.

About you To be successful in this role, you will possess:

- Medical postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) experience or equivalent.

- Successful completion of AMC Clinical Examinations (AMC 1 & 2).

- General Registration, or eligibility to obtain General Registration, with the Medical Board of Australia through AHPRA.

- Well-developed clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient management skills.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
