Balmain Compounding Pharmacy is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Intern Pharmacist to join our team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy graduate to gain practical experience in a specialised compounding pharmacy environment. Based in Balmain, NSW, this internship will provide you with hands-on training in pharmaceutical compounding, patient care, and professional practice, whilst working towards your pharmacy registration requirements.
You will be mentored by experienced pharmacists and gain exposure to the daily operations of a community pharmacy with a focus on compounded medications and specialised pharmaceutical services.
What you'll be doing
Assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications under the supervision of registered pharmacists
- Learning and applying proper compounding techniques, quality assurance procedures and safety protocols
- Engaging with patients to understand their medication needs and providing appropriate information under supervision
- Maintaining accurate pharmaceutical records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Supporting the pharmacy team with stock management, inventory control and ordering of pharmaceutical supplies
- Developing knowledge of therapeutic drugs, indications, contraindications and potential interactions
- Contributing to a professional and welcoming pharmacy environment for patients and staff
- Assisting with administrative tasks including data entry, filing and telephone enquiries
What we're looking for
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited pharmacy degree programme in Australia
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and colleagues
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in pharmaceutical work
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced workplace
- Keen interest in pharmaceutical compounding and specialised pharmacy practice
- Reliable, organised and proactive with a genuine desire to learn and develop professionally
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
