This is a unique opportunity for an Investment Accountant to gain exposure to both private investments and a diverse portfolio of operating businesses within a successful, privately owned Australian group.
Working closely with senior finance leaders and the owners of the business, you will support the financial reporting and analysis of a private investment portfolio, including joint ventures and other investments.
You will also play a role in group reporting, bringing together financial information from across multiple businesses and sources to provide the owners with a clear, consolidated view of performance.
This is not a traditional accounting role. It offers broad exposure across investments, financial analysis, management reporting and commercial performance, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career beyond pure financial accounting.

- Review financial information provided by investment and JV partners.
- Maintain investment schedules and supporting financial information.
- Assist with investment performance and return analysis.
- Consolidate financial information from across the Group.
- Prepare management reporting to provide visibility of business performance.
- Analyse actual results, budgets and forecasts.
- Investigate variances and identify key performance trends.
- Assist with cash flow and other financial analysis.
- Work with finance teams and stakeholders across multiple businesses.
- Help improve and streamline investment and group reporting.
About you
We are looking for an early-career accountant who is analytical, commercially curious and keen to broaden their experience.
- CA/CPA qualified or currently studying towards qualification.
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Experience preparing financial or management reports.
- Robust attention to detail and an analytical mindset.
- Confidence working with financial information from multiple sources.
- An interest in investments and commercial business performance.
- Strong communication and stakeholder skills.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Experience in business services, audit, corporate accounting, investment accounting, funds management or a family office would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Why join us?
- This is an opportunity to build a breadth of experience that can be difficult to find early in your accounting career.
- You’ll gain exposure to private investments, joint ventures and a diverse portfolio of operating businesses, while working closely with senior finance leaders and business owners.
- The broader group operates across manufacturing, forestry, engineering, recycling, logistics and technology, and its existing group finance roles offer exposure across multiple businesses and investments.
- Based in the Sydney CBD, you’ll join a commercially focused environment where you can develop your technical accounting skills while building valuable experience in investment analysis and group reporting.
If you’re an ambitious accountant looking to move beyond traditional accounting and develop broader commercial and investment experience, we’d like to hear from you.
