The Role

We are seeking a capable and hands-on arboriculture professional to lead employees and contractors in maintaining healthy, secure and well-presented trees across our parks and natural environments.

In this role, you will lead by example while coordinating day-to-day activities to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. You will work alongside the team to undertake tree pruning, planting, watering and general maintenance, while also identifying hazardous trees and implementing appropriate risk management strategies.

You will prioritise and schedule work, respond to changing operational and customer needs, oversee the appropriate use and maintenance of plant and equipment, and provide practical training and guidance to team members. You will also contribute operational information to support the development of budgets and effective resource planning.

Selection Criteria

- Previous leading hand experience related to the key responsibilities.
- Up to date knowledge of the arboriculture industry, relevant standards and best practice methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of safety issues relevant to arboriculture operations.
- Proven ability to lead and work in a small team to maintain a positive and productive work culture.




- Demonstrated commitment to continual improvement and on the job training of others.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and performance management skills.
- Strong planning and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and undertake procurement activities.
- Arboriculture qualifications and/or training preferable.
- Senior First Aid Certificate is desirable.
- White Card is desirable (can be obtained following employment).
- Current WA ‘HR’ Class Drivers Licence is desirable.

Eligibility

- TAFE qualification(s) in Horticulture or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Safety Awareness Training.
- Australian working rights.
- National Police Clearance (no older than 3 months).
- Current WA ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
