As part of their team, you will play a pivotal role in bridging design, systems engineering, and advanced manufacturing to deliver next-generation commercial vehicle solutions.

Key Responsibilities

You will plan, design, direct, and coordinate the mechanical and structural engineering of vehicle service bodies and accessories:

- Custom &
- First-of-Type Engineering: Facilitate First-of-Type (FOT) projects within Hidrive’s "Build-Your-Own" programme, interpreting customer requirements into robust, compliant mechanical designs and fit-for-purpose vehicle integrations.
- Systems Integration &
- Workflow Optimisation: Provide technical engineering support to create structured workflows that integrate DealHub across Sales and Engineering processes.
- Project Leadership (CPQ/Product Configurator): Take a project leadership role in developing and embedding company-wide engineering item data into DealHub, accelerating the product configurator to act as the single source of truth for builds, instant estimates, agile Bills of Materials (BOMs), and customer quotes.
- Engineering Change Management: Scope, establish, and govern standardised Engineering Change Order/Notice (ECO/ECN) processes to make certain all engineering changes are controlled, fully traceable, and well informed.
- Stakeholder Collaboration &
- Design Reviews:



Spearhead cross-functional design reviews with production, sales, and external stakeholders, fostering open collaboration and design-for-manufacture (DFM) best practice.
- Compliance &
- Structural Integrity: Ensure all mechanical designs adhere strictly to Australian Design Rules (ADRs), Vehicle Standards Bulletins (VSBs), relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS), vehicle GVM/payload limits, and structural fatigue standards.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a formal qualification assessed as equivalent under ANZSCO 233512.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional engineering experience, ideally within automotive body building, fleet fit-outs, heavy vehicles, or sheet metal fabrication.
- Hands-on experience with CPQ/product configuration tools (prior exposure to DealHub is highly regarded) and 3D CAD/PDM systems (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Sound understanding of Engineering Change Management and establishing traceable engineering workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret ADR/VSB regulations, carry out mechanical stress calculations, and design for lean production.
- Strong attention to detail, proactive problem-solving ability, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
