Roadwest Transport Equipment & Sales (RWT) is an established Western Australian manufacturer specialising in the design and manufacture of heavy-duty transport equipment, including semi-trailers, side tippers, converter dollies and custom-built transport solutions.
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson to join our Engineering team. The successful candidate must have a strong background in mechanical drafting, SolidWorks and practical steel fabrication.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Draftsperson, you will be responsible for developing accurate 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and fabrication documentation to support our Engineering and Production teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and modify 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Prepare detailed manufacturing, fabrication and assembly drawings.
- Prepare drawings and documentation for bending, welding, fabrication and final assembly.
- Maintain and update existing engineering drawings, models and design documentation.
- Liaise with workshop personnel to resolve manufacturing issues and implement practical design solutions.
- Ensure drawings are accurate, clearly dimensioned and comply with company drafting standards.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical drafting.
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment, with a sound understanding of fabrication processes.
- Proven proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modelling, large assemblies and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication, welding, cutting, bending and assembly processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality drawings.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet production deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering and workshop personnel.
