About Us:
Established in 2007, CDC Data Centres is Australia and New Zealand's leading operator of secure, world-class data centre facilities. CDC plays a unique role in the fabric of the nations in which we operate, and we take this responsibility very seriously.
With multiple facilities across Australia and New Zealand, CDC's diversified operations provide large-scale secure data centre campuses that support co-location, dedicated and hyperscale compute environments, with all campuses interconnected with high-speed carrier grade networks.
At CDC, we are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. We believe that everyone's unique experiences enable us to deliver meaningful perks for our people, our clients and communities. Our mission is to attract, retain and grow the world's best data centre team.
Our people are committed, tenacious and meticulous in supporting our customers. Together, we configure the landscape to meet the security, reliability, connectivity and sustainability needs for today and tomorrow.
About the Role:
As part of our Operations Engineering team, the Mechanical Services Lead will help shape the performance, resilience and ongoing evolution of CDC's mechanical infrastructure across our ANZ data centre portfolio. With a particular focus on liquid cooling and critical cooling systems, you'll provide specialist engineering input across existing operations, new projects, upgrades and modernisation initiatives. Working across the full lifecycle of our mechanical systems, you'll combine deep technical expertise with practical operational thinking to identify improvements, resolve complex performance issues and ensure our cooling infrastructure continues to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving data centre environment.
- Act as a subject matter expert across critical mechanical and cooling infrastructure, providing technical guidance to operational teams across our portfolio.
- Support the development and evolution of liquid cooling solutions, including Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs), Secondary Fluid Networks (SFNs) and associated infrastructure.
- Assess mechanical designs, proposed system changes and upgrade activities to ensure solutions are resilient, practical and aligned with operational requirements.
- Analyse and troubleshoot mechanical system performance issues, partnering with consultants, contractors and internal teams to develop effective solutions.
- Contribute to commissioning, lifecycle planning and modernisation activities across existing and new data centre environments.
- Strengthen mechanical engineering standards, procedures and ways of working, while sharing technical knowledge and mentoring others across the business.
What's in it for you:
CDC offers excellent employment conditions and benefits such as:

About You:
You are an experienced mechanical engineer who understands the demands of highly resilient, always-on environments, and enjoy getting into the detail of how complex cooling systems perform in practice. With experience across either data centres, critical facilities, industrial buildings or engineering consultancy, you hold strong knowledge of mechanical building services and an interest in the evolving cooling requirements of high-density compute environments. Alongside technical capability, you'll be a natural problem-solver who can work across multiple disciplines, challenge designs constructively and communicate complex engineering concepts clearly.
Experience with liquid cooling would be particularly valuable, however broader experience designing, operating or optimising complex cooling infrastructure will also translate well.
- 3+ years' experience across data centres, industrial buildings, engineering consultancy or another complex critical infrastructure environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of cooling infrastructure such as air-cooled chillers, AHUs, pumps, VSDs and associated mechanical systems.
- Experience with liquid cooling technologies, CDUs, SFNs or similar high-density cooling solutions will be highly regarded.
- Ability to review technical designs, drawings, specifications, engineering calculations and supporting documentation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across mechanical, electrical, controls, fire and operational disciplines.
Essential:
Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
