Make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal men and their communities.

Are you passionate about supporting Aboriginal men to strengthen their social and emotional wellbeing, build resilience and create positive change? Sunrise Health Service is seeking a dedicated Men’s Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Coordinator to support Aboriginal men in Ngukurr, with a particular focus on participants in the Restorative Day Program.

This is an opportunity to build trusted relationships, provide culturally safe and practical support, and help men strengthen their wellbeing, treatment readiness, personal accountability and pathways to positive change.

About the Role

Working within a trauma-informed and strengths-based framework, you will provide culturally responsive support to Aboriginal men, including those affected by high-risk alcohol use and those involved, or at risk of involvement, with the justice system. You will facilitate individual and group activities, support treatment readiness planning, undertake community outreach and connect participants with appropriate health, alcohol and other drug, justice, family and community services.

Working collaboratively with Sunrise clinics, SEWB staff, cultural authorities and partner organisations, you will contribute to coordinated, holistic and culturally secure support.

Key Responsibilities

- Facilitate men's groups and activities that promote connection, identity, hope and wellbeing.
- Provide alcohol harm-reduction information and coordinate referrals to appropriate services.
- Work collaboratively with health, justice, family and community organisations.
- Maintain accurate client records, referrals and program documentation.
- Promote men's SEWB, healing, safer behaviours and help-seeking within the community.

About You

You are a culturally respectful and compassionate individual who can build trust, engage positively with Aboriginal men and support people experiencing complex life challenges.

You will ideally have

- Experience supporting Aboriginal men, families or communities in a culturally safe manner.
- Knowledge of social and emotional wellbeing, alcohol and other drug issues, trauma and the challenges affecting Aboriginal men in remote communities.

- Experience in community engagement, outreach, group activities, peer support or case support.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to maintain qualified boundaries, confidentiality and respond appropriately to risk.
- A commitment to culturally safe practice and the Sunrise Way.
