Tasmanian Helicopters
Latrobe City
Established in 1989, Tasmanian Helicopters is a proudly Tasmanian-owned and operated business with more than 35 years of experience providing helicopter services across the state.
Based in Latrobe, with additional operations in Hobart, Launceston and Cradle Mountain, we support a wide range of industries, including aerial firefighting, agriculture, tourism, charter, utility and infrastructure operations.
We're a busy, hands-on business with a diverse fleet of helicopters and a great team of pilots, engineers, ground crew and administration staff. No two days are quite the same, and we take pride in delivering safe, reliable and skilled services, often in some of Tasmania's most challenging environments.
While we've grown over the years, we've maintained our close-knit, down-to-earth culture. We value teamwork, initiative and people who are willing to pitch in and help each other out. We're proud of what we've built and excited about where the business is heading.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the administrative, financial administration and business support functions across Tasmanian Helicopters and its associated businesses, including Cradle Mountain Helicopters.
This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work and can confidently manage competing priorities in a busy operational environment.
You'll work closely with management, pilots, engineers, ground crews, customers and suppliers to ensure the business runs efficiently and professionally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the office and supervising administrative staff.
- Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, debtor management and financial administration.
- Managing payroll, superannuation, Single Touch Payroll reporting and BAS requirements using MYOB.
- Preparing monthly financial and management reports.
- Supporting the General Manager with business administration, correspondence and reporting.
- Coordinating customer enquiries, quotations, bookings and operational administration.
- Assisting with tenders, contracts, supplier management and compliance documentation.
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding, personnel records and staff training administration.
- Maintaining business records, document control and administrative systems.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and overall business efficiency.
About You We're looking for someone who is approachable, dependable and confident managing both people and processes.
You will have a strong background in office management and financial administration, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently while remaining part of a close-knit team.
To be successful, you will ideally bring:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior administration or office management role, including supervising staff.
- Strong MYOB experience, particularly payroll, accounts management and BAS.
- A Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Business Administration or equivalent practical experience.
- Advanced Microsoft 365 skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
- Excellent organisational, communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and remain flexible as operational needs change.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to roll up your sleeves when required.
- A high level of professionalism, discretion and integrity when handling confidential business information.
Experience in aviation, agriculture, logistics or another operationally focused or regulated industry would be highly regarded but is not essential. Why Join Tasmanian Helicopters?
This isn't your typical office management role.
You'll be joining an established aviation business where no two days are quite the same. From supporting helicopter operations across Tasmania to working alongside our engineering and operational teams, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to how the business operates.
We offer:
- A permanent, full-time position based in Latrobe, Tasmania.
- A varied and rewarding role within a unique aviation environment.
- The opportunity to work directly with senior management and influence business improvements.
- A supportive, close-knit team with a practical, down-to-earth culture.
- The chance to contribute to an established Tasmanian business as it continues to develop and grow.
