Step away from shift work. Keep your clinical brain.

Part-time (14 hours/week, 2 sessions per week) at Medical Pantry in Laverton North, a Victorian charity that rescues surplus medical supplies from hospitals and sends them where they're needed. Ideal for a registered nurse with education or preceptorship experience, but open to anyone passionate about environmental sustainability, volunteerism and healthcare.

PAY

ABOUT US

Medical Pantry is a Victorian registered charity (DGR) that rescues surplus medical supplies from hospitals and clinics and sends them to humanitarian organisations overseas, animal welfare groups, and university simulation labs. Since 2021 we've rescued over 15,000 tonnes of supplies, worth roughly $200 million. Our 200+ volunteers do the sorting, packing and dispatch from our Laverton North warehouse.

THE ROLE

You'll shadow our existing Thursday and Saturday sessions for your first two weeks, then run your own sessions independently on two days a week (Mon, Tue, Wed or Fri, 9am to 4pm). Outside session days you can work remotely.

- Run our Four Quadrants workflow (inbound triage, sorted storage, large-item storage, outbound dispatch)
- Lead and coach volunteers, including corporate partner volunteering sessions
- Build onboarding and training materials and competency checklists
- Turn how we work into clear SOPs in Notion and draft policies for Board review

- Keep inventory records and product listings current (Shopify a bonus)
- Track and report on throughput, volunteer participation and safety

Strategy, partnerships and procurement authority stay with the CEO. This role is about running the floor well.

WHO YOU ARE

- Registered nurse (or allied health professional) with clinical education, preceptorship, in-service training or procurement experience
- Experience in a high-volume, task-oriented setting (emergency, ward, theatre, clinic)
- Comfortable working within procedures and compliance frameworks
- Strong people skills and the ability to motivate volunteers from diverse backgrounds
- Proactive and self-directed, with genuine alignment with our mission

Highly desirable: volunteer management, not-for-profit experience, WHS exposure, Notion/Slack/Shopify familiarity.

GROWTH PATH

Starts at 2 days a week, with a third day expected by the end of the year, subject to a documented review of hours, budget and classification. 6-month probation period.
