Everybody deserves the opportunity to go surfing – to share the beauty of the ocean and the benefit of its waves. At Ocean Heroes we have been creating these opportunities to autistic people and their families for 10 years.
We are a team of 1,500+ volunteers and local community leaders who take autistic people and their families surfing. By 2030, we will provide 10,000 of those opportunities across Australia. Ocean Heroes isn't just about surfing, it's about fostering confidence and connection; taking risks in a protected, supported environment; and it's about benefits that start at the beach and continue into home life, school and everywhere else.
About The Role
This is a hands-on, get-things-done growth role.
You'll report directly to our CEO to help deliver our 2030 strategy, be boots on the ground for our GM of Commercial and support the wider team in WA. Ocean Heroes has grown from a small to a medium-sized charity and you'll have the chance to shape the structure that carries us into our next chapter.
Key Responsibilities
- Running WA fundraising, including our major fundraiser, Ocean Heroes 24hr Swim, as well as local events that we deliver ourselves or with partners
- Looking after our partners, keeping those relationships strong and helping bring new ones on board
- Leading projects that improve how we work: starting with our software, project management systems and national processes
- Building structure into every project so the wins you create are rolled out and embedded into every community that we serve
- Joining us on the beach when it counts – the best part of the job
About You
- You think in systems. You love finding smarter ways of doing things and making them happen
- You're as comfortable with our volunteers and families on the sand as you are in a corporate meeting
- You build genuine relationships, bring the stoke and help lift how we show up professionally
- You're organised, a self-starter and have run projects before
- You think beyond WA. You will be based with our WA team in Perth and work collaboratively with our Sydney team. We are excited to be growing into QLD, VIC and SA too – what you build will help take us there
- You live our values: Safe, Authentic, Community and Stoke
Benefits
- Real ownership and responsibility in delivering and improving our flagship events
