Do you enjoy working outdoors, operating machinery, and taking pride in keeping parks, reserves, and public spaces looking their best?

Hays is partnering with Local Councils to recruit reliable and hardworking Parks & Gardens General Hands to join their Parks and Environment teams. These are fantastic opportunities for experienced grounds maintenance workers, landscapers, horticulturalists, or those looking to further their career within Local Government.

Your new role

No two days are the same. Working as part of a dedicated parks team, your duties may include:

- Maintaining parks, gardens, reserves, and public open spaces
- Weeding, planting, mulching, watering, pruning, and spraying vegetation
- Verge maintenance and general streetscape presentation
- Operating a range of horticultural equipment including:
- Ride-on mowers
- Whipper snippers
- Blowers
- Edgers
- Chainsaws

- Driving council trucks and vehicles between sites
- Undertaking physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Following secure work practices and council procedures at all times





What you'll need to succeed To be successful, you will ideally have:

- MR or HR Driver's Licence (essential for most opportunities)
- White Card (essential)
- Chainsaw Ticket and/or Spray Ticket (highly regarded)
- Basic Traffic Management/Traffic Control (desirable)
- Horticulture qualification or Equivalent (highly regarded)
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, parks, streetscapes, or similar outdoor roles
- Experience operating horticultural machinery and equipment
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
