Parks Maintenance Worker

Location: Fyshwick Depot, Inner South Region, Canberra ACT Pay Rate: $43.82 per hour + superannuation

About the Role

Indigeco is seeking reliable and physically fit Parks Maintenance Workers to support the maintenance and upkeep of Canberra's parks, public spaces and urban environments. Based at the Fyshwick depot in the Inner South Region, this is a hands-on outdoor role involving a combination of horticultural maintenance, groundskeeping, cleaning and general labouring duties.

You will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure parks, gardens, streetscapes and public facilities are maintained to a high standard. If you enjoy working outdoors, operating machinery and contributing to the local community, this is an excellent opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform general parks and grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, weeding and pruning.
- Maintain gardens, landscaped areas, public spaces and urban open spaces.
- Collect litter, rubbish and fallen leaves to maintain clean and presentable environments.
- Undertake cleaning duties across public facilities, including shops, amenities and public toilets.
- Assist with tree and shrub maintenance and weed control activities.
- Operate horticultural machinery, vehicles, cleaning equipment and other maintenance tools.
- Conduct daily pre-start checks on vehicles, machinery and equipment.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and report any faults or safety concerns.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, operational instructions and service standards.
- Work collaboratively with team members while completing assigned tasks independently when required.

Essential Requirements

- Australian Permanent Residency.
- Current C-Class driver's licence.
- Valid Asbestos Awareness Card.
- Construction White Card (Workplace Health and Safety Induction).




- Ability to meet the physical and medical requirements of an outdoor, manual role.
- Willingness to wear a uniform and work across different depots and locations as required.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

- Previous experience in parks maintenance, gardening, landscaping, horticulture, groundskeeping or general labouring.
- Experience operating mowers, brush cutters, blowers and other horticultural equipment.
- Experience using cleaning equipment and general maintenance machinery.
- Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) qualification or willingness to obtain one.
- Medium Rigid (MR) driver's licence or higher.
- Basic reading and writing skills, including the ability to understand safety procedures, equipment manuals and operational instructions.
