About The Company
NETFIRM is seeking a mid-weight PHP Developer to join a leading creative business based in Sydney’s central business district. The organisation brings creative, design and technology expertise together to deliver digital experiences and solutions for its clients. This opportunity is suited to a developer who enjoys working across established web technologies, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to a significant delivery with a defined timeframe.
About The Role
As a contractor, you will join a major project scheduled for completion at the end of May. You will contribute to the development and integration of web applications, using PHP, MySQL and JSP alongside a range of front-end technologies. The role calls for a self-starting developer who can take ownership of assigned work, communicate progress clearly and help lead technical tasks when required.
You will work closely with other developers and UX designers to coordinate workflows and support the implementation of effective, user-focused solutions. An understanding of front-end development will help you collaborate across disciplines and contribute to discussions about functionality, usability and delivery. You should be comfortable working in an Agile environment and adapting to project priorities as requirements evolve.
Qualifications To be considered, you should bring practical development experience and the ability to contribute effectively within a project team. The following skills and experience are relevant to the role:
- Professional experience developing with PHP and MySQL.
- Proven JSP experience, which is essential for this position.
- Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, AJAX and Bootstrap.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, MVC architecture and Agile or Scrum delivery methods.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and working with RESTful web services.
- Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks or libraries, including Backbone and Angular.
- Exposure to front-end build and project tooling such as Bower, Grunt and Yeoman.
- Some experience with enterprise content management platforms, such as Sitecore, AEM, SDL or Interwoven, is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical ideas clearly and present information to clients.
- A proactive approach, sound problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with developers and UX designers.
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance and maintain web application features using PHP, MySQL and JSP.
- Build and support responsive front-end components using the relevant HTML, CSS and JavaScript technologies.
- Integrate third-party APIs and RESTful services, contributing to reliable data exchange between systems.
- Participate in technical planning, code reviews, testing and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate work with developers and UX designers to align implementation with agreed workflows and design requirements.
- Take ownership of assigned deliverables, provide clear updates and raise risks or dependencies promptly.
- Contribute constructively in Agile or Scrum ceremonies and support progress toward the project’s end-of-May completion target.
Benefits This contractor prospect offers the chance to contribute to a major project with a clear delivery milestone and work alongside creative, development and UX professionals in Sydney’s CBD. You will apply a broad set of established web development skills, gain experience in a collaborative delivery environment and take on meaningful responsibility within the project team. Engagement terms, including contract duration and other conditions, will be discussed during the recruitment process.
Equal Opportunity
NETFIRM is committed to fair and inclusive hiring. Applicants will be considered based on their relevant experience, skills and ability to perform the role. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and will provide reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process where required.
