Matthews Quarries is seeking skilled and experienced Plant Operators to join our team in Tyers, Victoria. There are both full-time and casual positions offering an excellent opportunity to work within the quarrying industry, operating key equipment. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various plant equipment in a dynamic quarry environment, contributing directly to our operational success and maintaining the highest standards of safety and productivity.
Key responsibilities
- Operate a variety of plant and machinery equipment including excavators, wheel loaders, dozers and associated quarry machinery
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and safety checks on all plant equipment before use
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies whilst operating machinery
- Maintain accurate records of equipment operation, maintenance requirements and daily activities
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors and team members regarding operational matters and safety concerns
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on plant equipment as required
- Operate equipment in a manner that maximises productivity whilst minimising waste and downtime
- Support site-wide safety initiatives and participate in toolbox talks and safety training
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative workplace culture
What we're looking for
- Proven experience operating quarry machinery, such as dozers, excavators, loaders or similar equipment in a quarrying environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant safety procedures and WorkSafe requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to maintaining high safety standards and reporting hazards promptly
- Physical fitness and ability to work in outdoor conditions and varying weather
- Reliability and qualified work ethic
