PMO Lead – Large Utilities Organisation

- $1000 p/d inc super
- Melbourne / WFH (3 days per week onsite)
- 6 month contract with potential to go permanent

Primary Purpose of the Role: We are seeking an experienced, hands-on PMO Lead to establish, enhance and mature Project Management Office (PMO) functions within a complex project delivery environment.

The successful candidate will drive capability uplift, improve project delivery standards and implement practical frameworks, processes and governance structures that support consistent and effective project execution.

This role requires someone who can operate strategically while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day development and improvement of PMO capabilities.

Key Accountabilities:

- Establish, develop and continuously improve PMO functions, frameworks and processes.
- Drive PMO capability uplift, improving project management maturity and delivery standards.
- Develop and implement practical project governance, reporting and assurance frameworks.
- Standardise project management methodologies, tools, templates and processes across project teams.
- Identify gaps in existing PMO practices and implement sustainable improvements.
- Work closely with project managers and key stakeholders to embed consistent project delivery practices.




- Provide hands-on support across PMO operations, ensuring frameworks and processes are effectively adopted.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen project visibility, accountability and delivery performance.

Essential Requirements:

- Demonstrated experience establishing, uplifting or transforming PMO functions within complex organisations.
- Solid hands-on PMO experience, with the ability to develop and implement solutions rather than solely provide strategic oversight.
- Proven capability in improving project management standards, governance and delivery frameworks.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, processes and best practices.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and drive organisational change.
- Experience within the utilities, energy or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
- Practical understanding of project delivery challenges and operating environments within utilities organisations.
- A proactive, delivery-focused approach with the ability to work independently and drive measurable improvements.
