About the opportunity

Troocoo is seeking an experienced Principal Financial Accountant to join a Queensland Government department. This role combines technical accounting expertise with team leadership, overseeing financial reporting, asset accounting and continuous improvement. You will work closely with senior leaders, auditors and operational stakeholders to deliver accurate financial information, strengthen internal controls and support informed decisions.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include overseeing month-end accounting and financial ledgers, coordinating annual financial statements and managing audit requirements. You will also lead asset accounting activities, including valuations, stocktakes, impairment and useful life reviews. Alongside these responsibilities, you will develop financial policies and procedures, provide advice on complex accounting matters and lead a team to deliver high-quality financial accounting services.

About you





You are an experienced senior financial accountant with solid technical knowledge and a practical, collaborative leadership style. You bring experience preparing financial statements, managing month-end processes and overseeing asset accounting within a complex organisation. Your ability to interpret financial information, navigate legislative and policy requirements, and communicate clearly with stakeholders will be essential.

Experience within government or a similarly regulated environment will be highly regarded.

A degree in accounting or commerce and CPA, CA or an agreed equivalent qualification are desirable.
