Project Director - Water Infrastructure
Victoria | Major Projects & Frameworks | Future Regional Leadership Opportunity An established Australian infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Project Director to play a key leadership role in the continued growth of its Victorian business.
Victoria represents a significant growth market for the organisation, with a solid pipeline of major water infrastructure projects and long-term framework opportunities. This appointment will initially act as a senior figurehead across major pursuits and delivery opportunities, before taking leadership accountability as these projects are secured.
Importantly, this is not simply a role focused on delivering one project. The successful individual will help build the organisation's Victorian capability , strengthen key client relationships and establish the platform for continued regional growth.
For the right individual, there is a genuine longer-term opportunity to progress into a Regional Manager position with full P&L; responsibility for Victoria .
The Role
As Project Director, you will:
- Provide senior leadership across major water infrastructure projects, programs and frameworks.
- Support strategic pursuits and major opportunities through pre-contract, tender and mobilisation stages.
- Take executive-level responsibility for projects or portfolios following award.
- Lead projects valued at approximately $80m+ , as well as major frameworks with annual delivery values around $50m+ .
- Build and develop local project delivery capability as the Victorian business continues to grow.
- Establish strong relationships with clients, delivery partners, government stakeholders and the wider Victorian water sector.
- Ensure strong commercial, safety, operational and project delivery outcomes.
- Support the organisation's long-term growth strategy for Victoria.
About You We are interested in speaking with senior project and operational leaders who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience delivering major water, wastewater or complex civil infrastructure projects .
- Proven leadership of large D&C; projects, programs, frameworks or portfolios.
- Strong knowledge of the Victorian infrastructure market , ideally including relationships across the water sector.
- An understanding of Social Procurement obligations associated with Victorian state-funded contracts .
- Experience influencing projects during pursuit, pre-contract and mobilisation stages, not solely during delivery.
- Strong commercial acumen and confidence operating with senior clients and stakeholders.
- A track record of building, developing and leading high-performing project teams.
- The ambition and capability to take on broader regional and P&L; leadership responsibility over time.
Why Consider This Opportunity? This is a rare opportunity to join an organisation at an important point in the development of its Victorian business.
Rather than inheriting a narrowly defined delivery role, you will have the opportunity to help shape the region , influence major project opportunities and build the capability required to support long-term growth.
For an experienced Project Director looking beyond their next individual project, this provides a credible pathway into broader regional leadership while remaining closely connected to major project delivery.
