Kalgas Energy Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineer with an Electrical Engineering background to join our growing team in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

This is a diverse, hands-on engineering role combining project management, electrical engineering, control systems and commissioning across the mining, industrial and energy sectors.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of projects from initial site assessment and scoping through to design, procurement, execution, commissioning and final handover.

This is not a purely office-based engineering position. You will work closely with our experienced electrical, instrumentation and gas technicians, clients, suppliers and other engineering disciplines to develop practical solutions and deliver projects in the field.

The Role

As Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and providing engineering support across a range of industrial projects.

Your responsibilities will include

- Managing projects from initial scoping and estimating through planning, procurement, execution, commissioning and close-out

- Managing project scope, budgets, schedules, resources, risks, variations, contractors and suppliers

- Providing electrical engineering support for industrial electrical systems and equipment

- Supporting PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, motor control and VSD systems

- Developing and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, P&IDs;, control documentation and technical reports

- Planning and coordinating commissioning activities including I/O checks, loop checks, functional testing, FAT/SAT and troubleshooting

- Liaising directly with clients, suppliers, OEMs, contractors and other engineering disciplines

- Providing technical and fault-finding support to our multidisciplinary field team





- Maintaining project documentation, test records, as-built information and handover documentation

- Participating in engineering risk assessments, HAZOPs and management-of-change processes

- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and in accordance with applicable standards and client requirements

What We're Looking For

Essential

- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognised engineering qualification

- Demonstrated electrical engineering experience within mining, industrial, energy, utilities or process environments

- Experience managing engineering projects, including scope, cost, schedule, procurement and contractors

- Experience with industrial electrical systems and equipment

- Strong technical problem-solving and fault-finding capability

- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs; and technical documentation

- Strong communication and client liaison skills

- Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence

- Ability to travel to mine sites and regional locations as required

Highly Regarded

- PLC, HMI and SCADA experience

- Instrumentation and process control experience

- Commissioning experience

- Electrical trade background

- Mining or heavy industrial experience

- Power generation experience

- Industrial gas or combustion experience

- Type B gas appliance experience

- Functional safety experience

- Hazardous Area qualifications

- Eligibility for Engineers Australia membership

- CPEng or progression toward Chartered status

The Person We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in an engineer who is practical and comfortable working alongside tradespeople in the field,



rather than someone who wants to work exclusively from an office.

You will be someone who can understand the engineering requirements of a project, communicate effectively with the people carrying out the work and take responsibility for delivering a successful outcome.

You should be comfortable dealing directly with clients, making technical decisions, solving problems and managing multiple priorities.
