About the role
We are seeking a Rear Lift Waste Truck Driver to join our growing team at our Pascoe Vale depot. This is a full-time position based in Pascoe Vale, VIC 3044. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a rear lift waste collection truck, collecting waste from residential and commercial customers safely and efficiently.
You will be the face of Vibrant Services to our customers, and your professionalism and attention to detail will directly contribute to customer satisfaction and our operational success. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining our service delivery standards and ensuring that waste is collected and transported in accordance with all relevant regulations and company procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Operate a rear lift waste collection truck safely and in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies
- Collect waste from designated residential and commercial collection points using the rear lift mechanism
- Ensure the truck is loaded safely and within weight limits, distributing weight appropriately
- Maintain accurate records of collections and any issues encountered during your shift
- Conduct pre-shift and post-shift vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues or maintenance requirements
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Interact professionally with customers, addressing queries and concerns in a courteous manner
- Transport collected waste to appropriate disposal facilities in accordance with environmental regulations
- Keep the truck clean and maintain it in good working condition throughout the day
- Work efficiently to complete assigned collection routes within scheduled timeframes
What we're looking for
- A valid Heavy Rigid (HR) or Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence with a current driving record that demonstrates safe driving practices
- Experience operating rear lift waste collection trucks or similar heavy vehicle equipment
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices, including knowledge of manual handling procedures
- Physical fitness and capability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, climbing and repetitive movements
- Excellent communication skills and a professional approach to customer interactions
- Reliability and punctuality,
with a strong work ethic and commitment to service delivery
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of waste management procedures and environmental compliance is desirable
- Previous experience in waste collection or transport is highly regarded
