Retail Assistant – Power Tools Plus, Parkes

Power Tools Plus is seeking a Retail Assistant in Parkes to join our store team, serving customers, giving product advice and keeping the store running smoothly, with some support in the steel yard when needed.

The successful candidate will be friendly, reliable and customer-focused, with good attention to detail and a genuine interest in tools and hardware. You’ll enjoy working in a busy store and helping customers find the right products for the job.

With branches in Forbes, Parkes and Mudgee, we’re a leading regional supplier of tools, steel, fasteners and safety equipment to trade, farm and retail customers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

In-store

- Greet and serve customers, understand their needs and recommend the right tools, fasteners and safety gear
- Give helpful product advice to trade, farm and DIY customers
- Process sales, quotes, returns and account transactions accurately using our POS system
- Answer phone and email enquiries and take customer orders
- Build rapport with regular customers and help grow repeat business
- Receive and check incoming stock, then price and put it away
- Restock shelves,



monitor stock levels and help with stocktakes
- Keep displays, shelves and counters clean, well presented and correctly priced
- Handle customer issues and complaints promptly and professionally

Steel yard support

- Assist with picking, cutting and loading steel orders when needed
- Follow all safety procedures and wear the required PPE at all times

The position requires:

- Previous experience in a hardware, trade supply or retail workplace
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Good attention to detail and basic maths skills
- Ability to work well in a team and independently

Desirable, though not essential:

- Knowledge of tools and hardware products and their uses
- Experience using a POS system
- Forklift licence
