Casual | Seasonal Position | Commencing Late January 2027
We are looking for a reliable, highly organised and confident School Photographer Assistant to join our team for the 2027 school photography season.
We particularly welcome applications from mature and older candidates who bring life experience, confidence and strong communication skills. You should be comfortable directing groups of children, parents and teachers, giving clear instructions and maintaining order in a friendly but firm and skilled manner.
Working alongside the photographer, you will help ensure each photography day runs smoothly and efficiently, following the photographer's instructions and established procedures at all times.
No photography experience is necessary, full training will be provided.
The Role & What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is mature, reliable, highly organised and confident working with people.
Your responsibilities will include
- Equipment Setup & Pack-Down: Assisting the photographer with setting up, organising and packing away equipment.
- Student Presentation: Ensuring children are photo-ready, with neat hair,
clean faces and tidy uniforms.
- Crowd Management: Directing and organising children, parents and teachers, managing queues and giving clear instructions in a friendly but firm and assertive manner.
- Administration: Completing paperwork accurately and ensuring each child is correctly matched to their name and photographs.
- Photographer Support: Following instructions carefully, working cooperatively and promptly communicating any issues.
Essential Requirements
- Available for early morning weekday shifts throughout the school photography season.
- Willing and able to travel to different school locations.
- Physically fit and comfortable lifting equipment weighing approximately 5–10 kg.
- Holds, or is willing to obtain, a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Good communication skills and a positive, cooperative attitude.
