Glendenning
Evolution Precast is a leading precast concrete manufacturer working on some of Australia’s largest construction and infrastructure projects across QLD, NSW and VIC. We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join our finance team full time, based at our Glendenning head office.
This role is ideal for a CA or CPA qualified accountant who likes being close to the business: someone equally comfortable in the numbers and out on site with operations teams, who improves processes rather than working around them. You’ll own month-end, the general ledger and project and plant cost reporting across our multi-site, multi-state operation, working closely with the Financial Controller and CFO.
What you’ll do:
- Support month-end close across all entities and sites to an agreed timetable
- Own general ledger integrity, including journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions and intercompany
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations each month
- Prepare monthly management and regional reports with variance analysis and commentary, and support the consolidated management accounts
- Report project margins, revenue recognition and work-in-progress under AASB 15 for supply and supply-and-install contracts
- Oversee inventory and finished-goods valuation, including monthly reconciliations and stocktakes across sites
- Monitor progress claims, retentions, debtors and creditors with project and commercial teams, and oversee bank reconciliations, payment runs and payment controls
- Prepare or review BAS, multi-state payroll tax, FBT and workers compensation declarations, and support year-end statutory accounts, audit and the income tax return
- Coordinate the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts with plant, project and operations managers
- Provide practical financial insight to Operations,
Projects, Procurement and Estimating
- Mentor and support the AP/AR team, providing guidance and review where needed
- Support our move to a new ERP system, including testing, reconciliation of opening balances and user training
- Map, document and improve finance processes, internal controls and procedure manuals
About you:
- CA or CPA qualified, with a degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
- 5+ years in financial accounting, reporting and control
- Proven experience performing month-end close, reconciliations and general ledger
- Sound working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, including AASB 15 revenue and AASB 16 leases
- Advanced Excel and experience with a mid-market ERP
- Clear communicator who can explain numbers to non-finance managers
- Hands-on, with high attention to detail and a strong control mindset
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, building products or project-based businesses highly regarded
- Inventory, product costing or contract/WIP accounting experience advantageous
- Multi-entity or multi-state experience, including payroll tax across states, advantageous
- ERP implementation or migration experience and exposure to Power BI would be a plus
- A Big 4 or mid-tier audit background, now in a first or second commercial role, is welcome
What we offer:
- Exposure to some of Australia’s largest and most significant construction projects
- A supportive, down-to-earth team environment within a business on a significant growth journey
- The opportunity to be part of a major ERP implementation and shape how finance works as the business grows
- Close partnership with the CFO and Financial Controller
- A commitment to continuous learning and development
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you.
