Overview We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect / Senior Technical Consultant with a robust software engineering background in Python, JavaScript, HTML and data integration.

This is an architect-level consulting engagement supporting a specialist telecommunications data interoperability initiative within the Department.

The client is looking for someone who can do more than simply develop code. They need a technically strong individual who can understand business and technical requirements, design end-to-end solutions, recommend appropriate technologies and architectural approaches, and clearly explain and consult on proposed solutions with technical stakeholders.

The successful consultant will take ownership of translating complex requirements into practical, scalable and reliable software solutions, while providing technical direction and guidance throughout delivery.

The ideal candidate will combine Solution Architecture, Software Engineering and Technical Consulting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the solution design and technical architecture for Python-based data processing libraries and standalone JavaScript/HTML applications.




- Understand business and technical requirements and translate them into appropriate solution designs.
- Provide architectural recommendations and explain technical approaches, design decisions and implementation options to stakeholders.
- Design solutions for processing, parsing, validating, transforming, viewing and exporting structured telecommunications data.
- Provide technical direction for digital signature verification, cryptographic validation and data integrity capabilities.
- Define integration approaches, application components, interfaces and data interchange standards.
- Guide the development of reusable Python libraries and browser-based applications.
- Evaluate technical options, identify design considerations and resolve complex integration challenges.
- Ensure solutions are maintainable, secure, reliable and aligned with agreed specifications.
- Review technical designs, support development and testing activities, and provide guidance to engineering teams.
- Prepare architecture documentation, technical specifications, design decisions and implementation guidance.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders and communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and practical manner.

Essential Technical Experience





- Strong commercial software engineering experience with Python.
- Demonstrated experience designing and developing reusable Python libraries and packages.
- Strong hands-on JavaScript and HTML development experience.
- Experience designing standalone browser-based applications.
- Understanding of structured data processing, parsing, validation and transformation.
- Practical experience with digital signatures, cryptographic verification and data integrity.
- Experience with data integration, interoperability and standards-based interfaces.
- Strong software architecture and solution design capabilities.
- Experience translating technical requirements into practical solution designs.
- Strong technical consulting, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Highly Desirable Experience

- JSON, XML and XSD schema validation.
- Web Crypto API or comparable cryptographic libraries.
- Telecommunications data formats or electronic surveillance data interchange standards.
- Secure and self-contained web application development.
- Python package distribution, versioning and release management.
- Experience delivering software solutions within Australian Government or other regulated environments.
