About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer - On-Prem & Azure Cloud to support and maintain a complex on-premises infrastructure environment while contributing to the organisation's transition towards Microsoft Azure Cloud.

This is a hands-on infrastructure engineering role requiring strong experience across Windows and Linux environments, virtualisation, storage, backup and disaster recovery, alongside practical PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Support, maintain and improve on-premises infrastructure across Windows Server, Linux, VMware and Hyper-V environments.
- Perform infrastructure provisioning, configuration, maintenance, upgrades and operational support.
- Support the organisation's transition towards Microsoft Azure, including hybrid infrastructure integration and cloud infrastructure initiatives.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate infrastructure administration, provisioning, monitoring and operational tasks.
- Monitor and maintain server, virtualisation, storage, backup and core infrastructure services.
- Support infrastructure improvements, capacity management, performance optimisation and operational resilience.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures and operational runbooks.

Skills & Experience

- Strong hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration or data centre operations.




- Solid experience supporting on-premises infrastructure across Microsoft Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Strong knowledge of VMware / vSphere and Hyper-V virtualisation technologies.
- Experience with enterprise storage, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure services, with an understanding of hybrid environments and on-premises to cloud transition.
- Strong PowerShell scripting skills for infrastructure automation and operational improvements.
- Exposure to Python scripting or other automation technologies is desirable.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting and performance management.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Understanding of ITIL practices, including incident, problem, change and release management.
- Excellent communication, documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable Experience

- Exposure to OT or industrial infrastructure environments, particularly where availability, security and operational resilience are critical.
- Experience supporting infrastructure modernisation and migration from traditional on-premises environments to Azure Cloud.
- Experience supporting large-scale data centre or hosting environments.
