About the RoleGDS is looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to bridge the gap between our Civil Design, Project Management and Superintendent teams.

This is not purely a design role, and it is not purely a construction role.

We’re looking for someone with strong civil construction experience and enough design knowledge to understand design intent, identify constructability issues and help develop practical engineering solutions when challenges arise during construction.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical support to Project Managers and Superintendents during construction
- Review civil designs for constructability and practicality
- Investigate and resolve engineering and design issues on site
- Work with our Civil Design team to develop practical design solutions
- Review RFIs, contractor proposals, variations and design changes
- Assess construction methodologies and alternative solutions
- Coordinate technical matters between designers, contractors, clients and authorities




- Undertake site inspections and participate in construction meetings
- Provide practical technical guidance to engineers and designers

About YouIdeally, you will have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering
- 8+ years' relevant experience
- Robust civil construction and/or infrastructure delivery experience
- Experience in land development, subdivisions, roads, stormwater, earthworks and utilities
- A sound understanding of civil design and engineering documentation
- Demonstrated experience resolving design and constructability issues during construction
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with contractors, consultants, developers and authorities

Experience across both civil design/consulting and construction/contracting would be particularly valuable. If you've spent part of your career designing civil infrastructure and part of it working out how to actually build it, we'd particularly like to hear from you.
