Senior Systems Administrator | TSPV | Canberra

- Contract: 18-month initial contract, commencing March 2027.
- Location: Canberra, ACT – onsite, 5 days per week (WFH not available).
- Security Clearance: Must hold a current AGSVA TSPV clearance.
- Technical Skills: Strong experience in Linux (RHEL, Debian, Ubuntu), Ansible, Bash scripting, enterprise infrastructure management and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Grafana and Prometheus.

About the prospect We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator (EL1 equivalent) to support complex, mission-critical ICT capabilities within a highly secure Defence environment.

This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise across specialised infrastructure, Linux systems administration and enterprise platforms, ensuring the reliability, security and ongoing performance of critical systems. You will take ownership of complex technical activities, provide technical leadership and contribute to the delivery of secure and resilient ICT capabilities.

Your duties will include:

- Lead the installation, configuration, deployment and maintenance of specialised Linux-based systems.
- Manage day-to-day systems administration and BAU operations across complex enterprise environments.
- Deliver infrastructure management and platform lifecycle activities to maintain system reliability and performance.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures and knowledge artefacts.
- Identify technical risks, assess system requirements and contribute to infrastructure planning and design decisions.




- Provide technical leadership and advice while delivering complex systems administration solutions independently.

Skills and Experience we are looking for:

- Minimum 5 years' experience administering Linux operating systems, particularly RHEL, Debian and Ubuntu.
- Strong experience in configuration management and automation using Ansible.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise infrastructure and software platforms, including platform lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in Bash scripting and automation.
- Good understanding of networking technologies and enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus or Xymon.

Desirable experience: Experience with DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, containerisation (Docker/Podman), VMware virtualisation, databases (SQL, Redis, PostgreSQL) and enterprise software deployment will be highly regarded.
