You're a great writer, but you know there's more to SEO than just writing words.
We're looking for an experienced SEO Content Specialist to join an independent Australian-owned digital marketing agency in Southbank.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining SEO strategy, keyword research, content writing and client management. We're looking for someone who can take ownership of the entire content process, from identifying the right keywords and opportunities through to writing, publishing, optimising and reporting on results.
You'll work across a diverse portfolio of clients and industries, helping businesses improve their search visibility and attract the right audiences.
Importantly, we're not looking for someone who simply wants to be handed a brief and write content. We need someone who can do the research, understand the data, make recommendations and confidently explain why certain content opportunities are worth pursuing.
You'll also need to enjoy working with people. Building strong client relationships, managing expectations and keeping projects moving are all part of the role.
What's in it for you?
- Join an independent Australian agency that's entering an exciting phase of growth.
- Work across a diverse mix of clients and industries, so no two days or projects are quite the same.
- Collaborate with an experienced Head of SEO & Performance and a wider team across digital, social and design.
- Have the opportunity to influence SEO strategy and make recommendations that deliver real results for clients.
- Expand your experience across SEO, content, paid advertising and broader digital marketing.
- Take ownership of your work and client relationships, with the opportunity to make a genuine contribution as the business grows.
- Some work-from-home flexibility available.
What you'll be doing
SEO Strategy & Keyword Research
This is a big part of the role. You'll need to be confident working independently to identify opportunities and develop recommendations, including:
- Conducting keyword research using tools such as Ahrefs or SEMrush.
- Identifying primary and long-tail keywords, understanding search intent and uncovering opportunities to improve organic visibility.
- Analysing competitor activity and identifying gaps in existing website content.
- Recommending new content opportunities, landing pages, website improvements and blog topics.
- Developing content recommendations and strategies aligned with client objectives.
- Monitoring keyword rankings and search performance to identify further opportunities.
SEO Copywriting & Content Optimisation
You'll take those insights and turn them into high-quality content that works for both the reader and search engines.
- Writing and optimising website pages, landing pages, category pages, blogs and other digital content.
- Reviewing and rewriting existing content to improve readability, structure and SEO performance.
- Understanding website page structures, headings, titles, metadata and on-page optimisation.
- Working within WordPress or other CMS platforms to publish, update and optimise website content.
- Tracking content performance and making ongoing recommendations for improvement.
Client & Account Management
This is more than a delivery-focused writing role. You'll be the person managing the content process and building relationships with your clients.
- Managing client projects from initial brief through to execution and reporting.
- Building strong, positive relationships and becoming a trusted point of contact.
- Presenting content recommendations, SEO insights and performance updates.
- Proactively following up with clients to secure feedback, content approvals and sign-off.
- Managing deadlines, expectations and competing priorities.
- Identifying opportunities to improve client results and contribute to the growth of their accounts.
Broader Copywriting & Campaigns
While SEO is the primary focus, there will also be opportunities to get involved in other creative and marketing activities.
- Writing engaging copy for paid digital advertising campaigns.
- Developing social media captions and content ideas across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok.
- Collaborating with the design and social media teams on creative campaigns.
- Contributing to radio, video and other traditional advertising scripts where required.
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced,
commercially minded SEO content professional who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent writing and people skills.
You'll ideally have:
- 5 years' experience in SEO copywriting, SEO content or a similar digital content role.
- Hands-on experience with Ahrefs or SEMrush. Ahrefs is the preferred tool, but experience with either platform is important.
- Strong knowledge of keyword research, search intent, primary and long-tail keywords and competitor analysis.
- The ability to independently identify SEO opportunities and translate research into practical content recommendations.
- Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt your tone of voice across different brands and industries.
- Experience with WordPress or other CMS platforms, including publishing and optimising website content.
- An understanding of website structure and on-page SEO.
- Experience managing client relationships and communicating recommendations confidently.
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple clients, projects and deadlines.
Experience across different industries is important. The agency works with a varied client base, including qualified services, healthcare, education, construction and other service-based businesses.
E-commerce SEO experience would also be highly regarded as the agency looks to grow its offering in this space.
A qualification in marketing, communications or a related discipline would be beneficial, but relevant experience and capability are what matter most.
A little about the agency
You'll be joining an independent, Australian-owned digital marketing agency with an established client base and ambitious plans for growth.
With services spanning SEO, digital performance, social media and creative, the team works collaboratively to help businesses improve their marketing performance and achieve measurable results.
It's a great chance for someone who enjoys variety, likes taking ownership and wants to be part of a growing business where they can have a genuine impact.
