About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Shipping Container Surveyor to help keep our container fleet in top condition and ready for customers. You'll inspect returned containers, identify damage, prepare repair estimates, and coordinate repairs to maximise fleet availability. If you have a keen eye for detail, enjoy problem-solving, and take pride in quality workmanship, this is a role where your decisions make a real impact every day.

What You'll Be Doing

- Inspecting and assessing returned and inbound shipping containers against company standards.
- Preparing accurate repair, cleaning and refurbishment estimates within required timeframes.
- Recording container condition, damage assessments and equipment attributes within company systems.
- Taking photographs and maintaining detailed records of damage and repair requirements.
- Determining whether equipment is suitable for hire, repair, refurbishment or disposal.
- Coordinating the movement of containers through the yard, repair process and dispatch stages.
- Performing minor repairs such as patching, dent removal, greasing seals and other light maintenance works.
- Collaborating with repair teams to prioritise workloads and maximise fleet availability.




- Allocating equipment for customer hires and sales, ensuring containers are clean, compliant and ready for delivery.
- Conducting inspections of refrigerated containers and coordinating pre-trip requirements where required.
- Supporting stock rotation, inventory management and general yard operations.
- Identifying opportunities to improve productivity, fleet utilisation and operational efficiency.
- Maintaining accurate work orders, repair records and equipment history.
- Promoting a strong safety culture and maintaining high housekeeping and 5S standards.

What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who combines solid attention to detail with a practical, hands-on approach and a commitment to quality and customer service. Ideally, you'll bring:

- LF Forklift Licence.
- Experience within the container, transport, logistics, manufacturing, repair or industrial sectors.
- Strong inspection, assessment and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify damage, assess repair requirements and make sound decisions regarding equipment condition.
- Experience using systems and technology to record inspections and maintain accurate records.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.




- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and customer service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Metal trade experience, IICL certification, WHS certification or First Aid qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Experience assessing, repairing or maintaining shipping containers is advantageous.
