Kerb Placers

Bundaberg Central

Company Description

Kerb Placers has been laying kerb in Bundaberg since 1985. Since 2019 we have grown from a 6-person kerbing outfit to a team of 26, delivering kerbing, civil concreting and complete projects as principal contractor.

Today our work includes signalised intersections and roundabouts for Bundaberg Regional Council, kerbing on major highways and subdivisions, and large-format concrete roadways in over-50s lifestyle villages. Recent work includes the Goodwood Rd and Ashfield Rd signalisations, roundabouts at Coral Cove, Bargara and Johanna Blvd, the Princess St safety upgrades, and Council pathway renewal programs.

We run our own slipform kerb machines, a kerb crew out of Bundaberg and a concrete crew in Mackay. We are Heidelberg Materials' largest local customer, which lets us lock in concrete supply early.

The Role

You will be the engineer on the ground who makes sure our work is set out right, built to specification and fully documented, so every job closes out cleanly with the client.

As we take on more principal-contractor work for Council and developers, this role bridges the crews and the office. You will own setout, levels, quality records, hold points and as-constructed information on site. You will also help the Project Manager with programming, variations and tender submissions.

Qualifications

- Solid foundation in Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design, with the ability to interpret plans and drawings for road, kerb, and drainage projects.
- Experience working in Civil Engineering environments or as part of Civil Engineers teams on infrastructure or subdivision works.
- Skills in Planning, including project scheduling, resource coordination, and site logistics for civil construction projects.
- Knowledge of Stormwater Management, including design principles and practical implementation of drainage systems on site.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience in civil construction.
- Familiarity with relevant Australian standards, local council requirements, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in basic engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD or similar), plus strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively on site, communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams, and adapt to changing project priorities.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to work in outdoor, site-based conditions; prior experience in Queensland civil works is an advantage.
