Power Tools Plus is seeking a full-time Steel Supervisor in Parkes to run our steel yard and lead the steel team in delivering accurate orders and great service to our trade, farm and retail customers.

The successful candidate will be hands-on, organised and safety-focused, with strong attention to detail and a passion for customer service. You’ll be a confident team leader who’s inspired by the opportunity to help grow our steel and reinforcing business.

Reporting to the Branch Manager and supported by our Head Office team, the Steel Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day running of the steel yard, including steel sales, stock management, orders and deliveries. With branches in Forbes, Parkes and Mudgee, you’ll also work closely with the other branches on stock transfers and deliveries.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Team and customers

- Lead, supervise and train the steel team, including yard staff and drivers
- Quote, sell and advise customers on steel, mesh, reo and related products
- Build and maintain relationships with key trade, farm and builder customers
- Handle customer complaints and feedback promptly and professionally

Orders and deliveries
- Process steel orders accurately, including cut lists and special requirements
- Schedule and coordinate deliveries with drivers to keep runs efficient and on time
- Coordinate stock transfers with the Forbes and Mudgee branches

Stock
- Manage steel stock levels against sales history and customer demand




- Coordinate steel receivals, checking quantities, grades and condition
- Undertake rolling stocktakes of the steel yard
- Maintain relationships with steel suppliers and their representatives

Safety and yard
- Ensure safe work practices across the yard, including load restraint, forklift and crane use, and manual handling
- Keep the steel shed and yard safe, clean, organised and well presented

The position requires candidates to have:

- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team
- Strong customer service skills and confidence quoting and advising trade customers
- Ability to read and work from plans, cut lists and steel specifications
- Computer and administrative skills (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, POS systems, order paperwork)
- Current driver’s licence

The following is desirable, though not essential:

- Forklift Licence
- MR or HR truck licence
- Hiab/loader crane ticket
- Knowledge of reinforcing, mesh and concrete products
- Stock management experience
- Current first aid certificate
