The role
We’re looking for Support Workers to provide in-home support to an independent, creative woman in her 60s who knows exactly how she likes things done.
As a Support Worker with Kanda, you’ll help her live life on her own terms, keep doing the things she loves and feel confident in her independence. She leads her own supports and will show you how she likes things done, so you’ll need to be a good listener who takes direction well. She’s an active person who enjoys music, sewing and getting out and about, and your support helps keep that life going.
No two people are the same, and no two days need to be either.
About Kanda
At Kanda, we’re more than a care provider – we’re a community. With decades of experience, we deliver personalised disability, aged, veterans’ and community nursing support that empowers people to live better, more independent lives. Join a team where your work makes a real difference.
About the role
You’ll support her in her own home, working as part of a small team. Your day-to-day will include:
- Personal care and showering support
- Safe transfers and manual handling
- Household cleaning and domestic assistance
- Adapting your support to her routines and preferences
- Working in a 2:1 team on morning shifts and 1:1 on evening shifts
You will ideally have
- Experience in personal care, transfers and manual handling
- Experience with household and domestic tasks
- A patient, respectful and understanding approach
- A reliable, proactive and attentive attitude
- Good communication skills and clear spoken English
- The confidence to take direction from the person you support
- Availability to work short shifts of about two hours, across mornings and evenings, afternoons and weekends
Experience in every area is not essential. Please outline your relevant skills, training and experience when applying.
Essential requirements
- Current Australian driver’s licence (minimum P2)
- Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain the required checks
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain these
- Current Australian working rights
- Availability to commit to ongoing shifts
Ready to make a difference?
If you’re patient, reliable and looking for rewarding ongoing work, we’d love to hear from you.
