The role
We’re looking for a Support Worker to provide 1:1 high care support, helping people build confidence, learn new skills and enjoy a day doing the things they love.
As a Support Worker with Kanda, you’ll help people with disability live life on their own terms, make their own choices and feel confident in their abilities. Some days you’ll be out in the community trying something new. Other days you’ll be providing practical support at home, sharing a conversation or helping someone work towards a personal goal.
No two people are the same, and no two days need to be either.
About Kanda
At Kanda, we’re more than a care provider - we’re a community. With decades of experience, we deliver personalised disability, aged, veterans’ and community nursing support that empowers people to live better, more independent lives. Join a team where your work makes a real difference.
About the role
You’ll provide high care support to participants, helping to keep their environment safe, structured and therapeutic. Your day-to-day will include:
- Personal care and daily living support
- Positive behaviour support for participants with complex needs and high behaviours of concern
- Meal preparation and household tasks
- Accurately documenting participant progress, incidents and support provided
You will ideally have
- At least 1 years’ experience in disability support, aged care or community services
- Confidence providing personal care and supporting people with complex needs
- Practical experience with manual handling, hoisting and safe transfer techniques
- Strong communication, documentation and incident-reporting skills
- The ability to work independently, follow support plans and use sound judgement
- A calm, respectful and person-centred approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and support less-experienced colleagues where appropriate
- Be available to work Tuesday's and Fridays ongoing
Experience in every specialist area is desirable. Please outline your relevant skills, training and experience when applying.
Essential requirements
- Current Australian driver’s licence (minimum P2)
- Current Working with Children and NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain the required checks
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain these
- Current Australian working rights
