About RMS Manufacturing
At RMS Manufacturing, we design and manufacture electrical switchboards, distribution boards, and control panels built for reliability and safety. We pride ourselves on engineering excellence, technical accuracy, and maintaining rigorous compliance across all stages of production.
About the Role
RMS Manufacturing is seeking a skilled Testing & Quality Engineer to lead the testing and quality assurance processes across our switchboard manufacturing operations.
This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced electrical specialist with strong technical acumen, an eye for detail, and the confidence to bridge engineering, production, and client-facing environments. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring every switchboard, distribution board, and control panel leaving our facility is built, tested, and certified to Australian standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Testing & Verification: Conduct functional, electrical, and mechanical testing on main switchboards, distribution boards, and control panels.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure all assemblies comply with relevant standards, including AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000, and Victorian Service & Installation Rules (SIRs).
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): Plan, coordinate, and lead customer FAT inspections and witness testing.
- Quality & NCR Management: Identify non-conformances, conduct root-cause analyses (RCA), and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Technical Documentation: Maintain meticulous test records, checklists, compliance certificates, and handover packages.
- Design & Production Review:
Review electrical schematics, single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring schedules, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy and manufacturability.
- Site Support: Provide remote and occasional on-site support during customer installation, commissioning, and diagnostic troubleshooting.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with design engineers, electrical fitters, and sheetmetal fabrication teams to resolve build issues on the floor.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education & Licensing: Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor’s/Associate Degree) and/or a recognized Australian Electrical Licence (A-Grade or equivalent).
- Industry Experience: Hands-on experience in quality assurance, testing, or commissioning of low-voltage (LV) switchboards.
- Standards Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of AS/NZS 61439 and AS/NZS 3000.
- Instrumentation Proficiency: Demonstrated competence using electrical test equipment
- Schematic Fluency: Proven ability to read and interpret complex single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and mechanical assembly drawings.
- Communication & Detail: Explicit written and verbal communication skills for compiling test certificates and interfacing with supply authority inspectors and client engineers.
Why Join Us?
- Hands-On Technical Variety: Work across the entire manufacturing process
- Impact & Ownership: Directly influence product safety, build quality, and factory testing protocols.
- Collaborative Culture: Join a technically grounded manufacturing team committed to engineering precision.
